There’s a Ghost in the Picture!

Tutorial in Advanced, Effects, In Photos

This is a typical effect that we often see in horror movies. I started playing with Photoshop and got this technique in a few simple steps.

Open the image.

Duplicate the layer (Ctrl + J).

Desaturate the recently suplicated image. ((Image))-((Adjustment))-((Desaturate)).

Now apply ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Motion Blur)). Enter the values that appear in the image below.

Duplicate the desaturated layer (Ctrl + J).

On this layer, create a ((Layer Mask)). Click the arrow that appears in the following image.

Now select ((Pen Tool)), size 124px, low hardness (20px approximately), and reduce the ((opacidad)) to 25%.

If you are not sure, take a lok at the image below.

Before painting, go to ((Layer Mask)) and press X so that black is the front color. Paint the face so that it’s clear. We are erasing the superior image and allowing the inferior image to come up.

On the layer that has a ((Mask)) press Shift + Ctrl + Alt + E to combine all the layers in one (a new one) that will be located over the rest.

With the ((new layer)) selected, go to ((Filter))-((Distort))-((Diffuse Glow)). Use the values shown below. Bear in mind that the values depend on the image you are using.

Finally, go to ((Layer))-((New Adjustment Layer))-((Solid Color)). Shoose a dark green ( 01a30c ). Then change the blending mode to ((Color)) and reduce the ((opacity)) to 15%.

Booooo! Our effect is ready!
