Real Shade of an Object

Tutorial in Advanced, Effects, In Photos

Many times, the shades don’t look the way we want, especially in determined pictures. In this tutorial you will learn to create a realistic shade.

This is the object we will use to create the shade to.

Select the white background using ((Magic Wand Tool)).

Invert the selection. ((Select))-((Invert)).

Create a ((new layer)) and go to ((Edit))-((Fill)), fill it in with black.

Apply ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Gaussean Blur)).

Now press Ctrl + T to ((Free Transform)), then right click the mouse and choose ((Distort)). Drag the superior sliders. Press ((Enter)) in order to apply the transformation.

Duplicate the shade layer (Ctrl + J).

Apply ((Gaussean Blur)) again but, this time, with ((Radio)): 7px.

Add a mask to this layer.

Press D and then X so that the colors in the palette are black and white.

Select ((Gradient Tool)), ((Lineal Gradient)). Trace the gradient from right to left, standing in the mask. Take a look at the image below to see how I made it.

Now go to the layer located to the side of the mask in order to change the layer style to ((Multiply)) and reduce the ((opacity)) to 50%. Then go to the layer with the shade and reduce the ((opacity)) to 30%.
