Cold and Warm Photograph Effect

Tutorial in Advanced, Effects, In Photos

As the title points out, we will create an effect that will allow us to add cold and warm areas to an image. We will apply ((Color Balance)), then ((Hue/Saturation)), ((Curves)), ((Photo Filter)), and ((Selective Color).

We will use this image.

Divide the image using ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)).

Go to ((Image))-((Adjustments))-((Curves)). Elevate the curve as shown in the image below.

Now, ((Image))-((Adjustments))-((Color Balance)). Use the following values.

((Midtones)).

((Highlights)).

((Shadows)).

Then go to ((Image))-((Adjustments))-((Hue/Saturation)).

Deselect (Ctrl + D).

This is how the cold zone should look like.

Let’s select the other half.

Go back to ((Image))-((Adjustments))-((Curves)). Elevate the curve again, as shown in the image below.

Go back to ((Image))-((Adjustments))-((Color Balance)). Use the following values.

((Midtones)).

((Shadows)).

((Highlights)).

Then ((Image))-((Adjustments))-((Photo filter)).

Finally, ((Image))-((Adjustments))-((Selective Color)).

This is the result.
