Brick Wall

This is an impressing tutorial that will show you how to create a wall made of bricks with a great quality. It is a little bit long, but the results are amazing. We will use ((Pattern)), ((Channel)), ((Bump Map)), ((Lighting Effects)), ((Filters)), Layer Styles.

To begin, let’s create the ((Pattern)).

Open a new document (50×50px and white background).

Zoom it on.

Press Ctrl + A to select everything.

GO back to menu ((Edit))-((Stroke)). Enter the values that appear in the following image.

Select ((Line Tool)) size, 4px, and uncheck ((Antialiasing)). Draw 2 lines, a vertical one and a horizontal one. Observe the image below.

Erase the side traces using ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)). Check out the image below.

Save the ((Pattern)). ((Edit))-((Define Pattern)).

Open a new document (400×300px and white background).

Go back to ((Channels)) and create a new ((Channel)).

On the new channel, go to ((Edit))-((Fill)). Select the ((Pattern)) you have saved before.

Apply ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Gaussean Blur)). ((Radius)): 2,5px.

Press Ctrl + L to open the ((Niveles)) window. Apply the values that appear below.

Apply ((Gauseean Blur)) again, but use ((radio)): 6,2px.

After you apply this ((filtro)) DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING!

Go to ((Edit))-((Fade Gaussean Blur)). Enter the values that appear in the following image.

Let’s add ((ruido)). ((Filter))-((Noise))-((Add Noise)).

Go back to ((Layers)) and go to the layer.

Choose ((Gradient Tool)) and trace a ((Lineal Gradient)) as the one you will see below using color (#656565) and white.

Now go to ((Filter))-((Render))-((Lighting Effects)). Pay attention and apply the values that appear in the image below.

After you apply ((Lighting Effects)) you wll get this result.

Go back to ((Channels)) and select ((Alpha 1)). Press Ctrl + Click in order to activate the selectionof the bricks.

Then go to ((Channel)) RGB and press Ctrl + C to copy.

Go back to ((Layers)) and press Ctrl + V to paste.

Press Ctrl + U on the superior layer so that the ((Hue/Saturation)) window opens. Enter the following value.

Double click the layer to open ((Blending Options)). Check ((Drop Shadow)) and enter the following values.

Now the tutorial is ready. Our brick wall is done.
