Tutorial in Advanced, Designing, Drawing, Effects, Goodies

I will now show you how to create phosphorus. One will be on fire, the other one won’t.

Open a new document (400×400px and white background).

Create a ((New Layer)).

Select ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)) and draw the phosphorus. Fill it in with color #ecca69.

DO NOT deselect.

Select ((Burn Tool)), with the values that appear below, draw the shade that appear in the following image, from bottom to top.

With ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)), draw the other visible parte of the phosphorus (2px width, approx.) and fill it in with (#ecca69). Select ((Burn Tool)) again, except that this time it must be darker. Take a look ate the following image.

Create a ((New Layer)).

With ((Pen Tool)), draw the phosphorus “head”.

Press Ctrl + Enter to activate the selection and then fill it in with black.

Create another ((New Layer)).

Also with ((Pen Tool)), trace the flame’s contour.

Press Ctrl + Enter to activate the selection of the flame and fill it in with white.

Double-click the layer so that you apply ((Blending Options)).

((Inner Shadow)).

((Inner Glow)).

((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #c26a03, #ecd900 and transparent.

((Satin)).

Once you have saved the changes, reduce the layer’s ((opacity)) to 70%.

As you will see in the silhouette, the flame looks very hard. Apply ((Blur Tool)) in the lower part of the phosphorus in order to fix the issue.

Duplicate the phosphorus’ layer (Ctrl + J) and change its head color.

I hope you liked it.
