Dirty Old School Poster
Tutorial in Advanced, Designing, Drawing, Effects, Goodies, In Text
We will create an 80s style poster, using a dirty texture. We will also play with fonts and shapes 100% old style. Finally, you will get a great result. I hope you like this tutorial, which I personally created for you.
Open a new document (800×600px and white background).
Select ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)) and draw a rectangle as the one that appears below. Fill it in with color #018270.
Repeat the previous step, with a bigger selection, and fill it in with #3bbba9.
Again, repeat the previous step but, this time, fill it in with color #ea2a2a.
Complete the document’s space using the colors that were previously pointed out.
NOTE: These first steps must be applyed in the same layer.
Before going on with the next step, download the following brush by clicking here. Install the Brush.
Choose f0e800 as th main color.
In the same layer you draw the rectangles in, apply the effects of this brush, with rays.
Download the dirty texture by clicking here.
Once you have downloaded it, open the texture, copy it (Ctrl + C) and paste it (Ctrl + V) into the document.
Then go to ((Image))-((Adjustments))-((Desaturate)).
Change the layer style to ((Multiply)).
Now download this old school font, named Alba, clicking here.
Write the text you want.
Right click the layer’s name and choose ((Rasterize Type)) from the drop down menu.
With ((Magic Wand Tool)), and Shift pressed, select the white contours of the letters. Once you have selected all of them, fill them in with color #4c2222.
Again, with ((Magic Wand Tool)), select the interior area of the letters. Once you have done that, fill them in with white.
Duplicate the layer with the dirty texture and place it over the others.
Ctrl + Click the text layer to activate the selection. Then go to ((Select))-((Inverse)) in order to invert the selection.
Go to the duplicated layer again. Now press delete and…done!
This is the final result of my old style poster!
