Creating a Happy Sun
Tutorial in Advanced, Designing, Drawing, Web
This is kind of an icon, a cartoon, or whatever you want to name it, of a happy sun (Web 2.0 Style). We will use ((Layer Styles)) and several gradients.
Open a new document (400×400px and white background).
Select ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)) and make a circular selection.
Create a ((New Layer)) and fill it in with #FFCC00.
Double-click the layer to modify the ((Blending Options)).
((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: fdf705 y ffc300.
((Stroke)). Color #ff8000.
After you apply the ((Layer Styles)), our sun should look like this.
Create a ((New Layer)).
With ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), draw an oval and, with ((Gradient Tool)), apply a gradient from white to transparent.
Now we will add the eyes the sun.
Create a ((New Layer)).
Draw the eye with ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)) and fill it in with white.
Double-click the layer to go to ((Blending Options)).
((Stroke)).
((Gradient Overlay)).
The left eye will look like this.
Duplicate the eye layer (Ctrl + J) and arrange the right eye.
Create another ((New Layer)) and, with ((Pen Tool)), draw the mouth.
Press Ctrl + Enter to activate the selection and fill it in with red.
Create a ((New Layer)) and place it in the middle of the background layer and the second.
Select ((Shape Tool)) and choose the option “Flower2″ from the menu.
Choose #F59F00 as the main color and draw the Shape.
To this layer, apply ((Blending Options)).
((Inner Shadow)).
((Stroke)).
Finally, I added a degraded background and I painted sun rays with a brush you can download from ACÁ.
