Creating a Futuristic Hologram

Tutorial in Advanced, Designing, Drawing, Effects, Goodies, Web

This is a great tutorial in which you will learn to create a futuristic hologram. We will use a wide variety of ((Layer Styles)), such as: ((Drop Shadow)), ((Inner Shadow)), ((Inner Glow)), ((Gradient Overlay)), ((Stroke)) and the filter ((Motion Blur)).

Open a new document (400×400px and white background).

Create a ((New Layer)).

Select ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), ((Fixed Size)), 185×185px. Click any area of the document and the selection you have marked will be automatically created.

Fill it in with color #0097FF .

With ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)), erase a bit more than the half of the circle.

Double click the layer to go to ((Layer Styles)).

((Drop Shadow)).

((Inner Shadow)).

((Inner Glow)).

((Gradient Overlay)).

Accept the changes.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Select ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), ((Fixed Size)), size 178×94px.

Fill this new circular selection with color #0096FF and place it above the first layer.

Now apply ((Layer Styles)).

((Stroke)).

After applying ((Stroke)) you will have this result.

Create a ((New Layer)).

With ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), draw another selection, a little bit smaller than the other one and fill it in with color #007CD2 .

To this circle, apply ((Layer Styles)).

((Gradient Overlay)).

((Stroke)).

Accept the changes and you will have the following results.

Merge the first layer you created invisible by clicking the eye next to the layer.

Select ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)) and trace a selection selecting the circles as shown in the following image.

Then go to menu ((Edit))-((Copy Merged)).

Then go to ((Edit))-((Paste)), as you will see in the following image, the black background was also pasted.

To remove the white background, you must select ((Magic Wand Tool)) and click the background, this tool will select the white area. Then press delete.

As you saw, the white background was deleted. Once you have done this, with ((Free Transform)) (Ctrl + T), reduce the circle to a smaller size (smaller than the bigger one). Observe:

Duplicate the smaller circle (Ctrl + J) and go to menu ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Motion Blur)).

If you want the hologram to be higher, duplicate the layer you applied motion blur to, and with ((Free Transform)), stretch it and reduce the ((Opacity)) to 80%.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Use #007CD2 as the main color.

Select ((Shape Tool)) and choose the shape you want, as you will see in the following image, I chose a clover.

Of course, you can choose the shape you want. : )

Double click the layer to apply ((Layer Styles)).

((Inner Glow)).

((Gradient Overlay)).

Save the changes.

Change the layer style to ((Soft Light)).

Finally, duplicate the layer as many times as you want, with a small size, and apply small clovers.

Observe the final result.
