Bokeh Digital Effect in Photoshop
Tutorial in Advanced, Designing, Drawing, Effects, Goodies, Web
Great effect to apply in a wallpaper. This is an effect that can easily be done using Pixelmator, but this time we will do in Photoshop. The precess is very easy, but it takes several steps.
Open a new document (1900×1200px).
Fill in the background with color #262626.
Create a ((New Layer)).
With ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), create a selection as seen below and fill it in with black.
Double click the layer to apply ((Blending Options)).
((Stroke)).
In the following image you will notice I merged the background’s layer invisible so that you see exactly how the circle should look like.
Now save the brush. Go to ((Edit))-((Define Brush Preset)).
In ((Brush Tool)) select the brush you saved.
Then go to ((Windows))-((Brushes)) and add the following parameters.
((Shape Dynamics)).
((Scattering)).
((Other Dynamics)).
Then create a ((New Layer)).
Fill it in with white and reduce the ((Fill)) to 0%.
Double click the layer to go to ((Blending Options)).
((Gradient Overlay)). For the gradient, I used the colors #000085 / #9b3b81 / #1bdaeb / #d27e34.
Create a folder, in order to do so, click the button ((Create a New Group)).
To this new layer, change the layer mode to ((Color Dodge)).
Now underneath it, create a ((New Layer)).
Choose white as the main color.
Then select ((Brush Tool)) and choose the brush you previously installed, size 500px. What you will do will be painting several bubbles as see on the following image.
To this new layer, apply ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Gaussean Blur)).
Create a ((New Layer)).
Reduce the brush size 150px , and repeat the same previous step, except that the ((Gaussean Blur)) value will be lower.
Create a ((New Layer)).
Reduce the brush size about 100px, and repeat the previous step. Apply ((Gaussean Blur)) with an even lower value. Take a look at the following image.
By means of this tutorial, I wanted to show you the power of PS brushes.
The final result is this.
