Abstract ((Pattern)) with Movement

A beautiful abstract background created by moving ((patterns)).

Open a new document, 640×480px, and white background.

Go to ((Filter))-((Sketch))-((Halftone Pattern)). The values are located in the image below.

Then go to ((Filter))-((Sketch))-((Photocopy)). The values are in the following image.

Now ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Radial Blur)), with the following values.

You just need to color the background. ((Image))-((Adjustments))-((Hue/Saturation)). Activate ((Colorize)) and follow the steps that appear in the following image.

This is our result.

Creating the Apple Logo

I commonly apply Apple wallpapers in my PC’s desktop because I find them nice and high quality designs. Yesterday I thought: “What about creating my own Apple wallpaper?” I did, and I want to share it with you. I hope you like it.

To begin, create a new document (800×600px and white background).

Then download the apple logo by clicking here. You will need to have Corel or Illustrator in order to open this file. Once you have the file opened, select the apple, copy it, and paste it in the Photoshop document.

Fill in the background layer with black.

Double click the Apple layer to open ((Blending Options)).

((Gradient Overlay)). For this gradient, I used these colors: #615f5f and #ffffff.

((Stroke)). Choose the gradient that comes by default in Photoshop, named “Silver”.

Accept the changes.

Now go to the background layer.

Select ((Gradient Tool)), radial, and choose the following colors: #3f0043 and #000000. Trace the gradient in a way that it looks like the following image.

Press Ctrl + E to unify the layers: the apple and the background.

Go to menu ((Filter))-((Render))-((Lighting Effects)). Enter the values that appear below, and pay attention to how I placed the lights.

This is the final result.

Technological Ring

Let me introduce to you this simple tutorial: creating a “technological ring”. You don’t need to be a professional to learn this technique. It is recommended that you work in a big document so that the image keeps its high quality.

Open a new document (600×600px and white background).

Create a ((new layer)).

Select ((Rectangle Tool)), ((Fill Pixels)) and draw rectangles and lines as the ones you will see below.

Repeat the previous step in different layers, 4 or 5 times more.

Select all the layer except for the background one, and go to ((Layer))-((Merge Layer)).

Then apply ((Filter))-((Distort))-((Polar Coordinates)) ((Rectangular To Polar)).

Here comes the funny part. ((Edit))-((Transform))-((Distort)), then apply ((Outer Glow)) and add a degraded background.

Pixelated Blocks

This is a tutorial that will show you how to create a texture made of pixelated blocks. The key of thi tutorial will be the use of these filters: ((Clouds)),((Mosaic)), and((Ink Outlines)).

Create a new document (500×150px and transparent background).

Reset the color palette to black and white. Press the D key to do so.

Now ((Filter))-((Render))-((Clouds)).

Now apply ((Filter))-((Pixelate))-((Mosaic)). ((Cell Size)): 16px.

Then ((Filter))-((Brush Stokes))-((Ink Outlines)). Enter the values I put below.

Finally, let’s color it. Press Ctrl + U to open the Hue/Saturation window. Use the values that appear below, don’t forget to activate ((Colorize)).

Done! What do you think? Simple and effective, isn’t it?

First Steps with the ((marquee tool)) in Photoshop

The ((marquee tool)) is one of the ones we use the most in Photoshop. It allows us to resize images; not only it allows us to change dimensions proportionally, but it also lets us change the dimensions to the size and shape we like the most.

Open the image you are going to cut.

Select ((herramienta recortar)). In the image below, you can see it is marked with a red box. All you need to do is to create a new box, which will help you move the selection. If you place the mouse cursor outside the box, you will also be able to rotate it.

Once you have decided the area you are going to cut, press enter.

n the image above you can see how I created a new format with the image using the indicated trim.

If you need to use the same size over and over again, you can use a default ((width)) and ((height)). Check out the image below.
