Open a new document, 340×185px, and transparent background.

Select ((Gradient Tool)), ((Linear Gradient)), to trace a vertical gradient using these colors: #033478 and #000000.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Choose white as the foreground color.

With ((Rectangle Tool)), trace a rectangle as the one you see below.

Double click the layer to open ((Layer Styles)).

((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #62615e, #898582, #ffffff, #ffffff, #aca8a5, #aca8a5, #3c3b40, #3c3b40, #a2a6a5, #a2a6a5, #a2a6a5, #ffffff, #ffffff, and #bdc5d0.

Accept the changes.

Choose #ed2025 as the foreground color.

Select the font Verdana and write “HeavyMetal”.

Stand in the text layer and go to ((Layer))-((Layer Style))-((Blending Options)).

((Drop Shadow)).

((Inner Shadow)).

((Gradient Overlay)). Use: #ed2025 and #640c0b.

Accept the changes.

Add the text and font you want and choose color #696678.

Now go to ((Layer))-((Layer Style))-((Blending Options)).

((Drop Shadow)).

((Inner Shadow)).

Accept the changes.

Ctrl + Click the text layer “HeavyMetal” to activate the selection.

Ctrl + Shift + Click the text layer to add selection.

Now go to ((Select))-((Modify))-((Expand)): 8px.

As you will see in the image above there are some irregularities. In order to fix them, select ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)), ((Add To Selection)), and create a trace over the irregularities to cover them.

Then invert the selection ((Select))-((Inverse)).

Finally, stand in the rectangle layer and with the selection active and press delete.

Deselect (Ctrl + D).

Done! An original metallic text to use as a logo.

Open a new document, 1024×768px, and transparent background.

Fill it in color #C3823E.

Apply ((Filter))-((Noise))-((Add Noise)).

Then ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Motion Blur)).

Press Ctrl + T to activate ((Free Transform)) and extend the background to the left and the to the right.

Double click the layer to open ((Layer Styles)) and apply ((Gradient Overlay)).

Accept the changes.

Before going on with the next step, you will have to download the file Apple.ai that has the shape and colors of “the Apple”.

Once you have downloaded it, open it in Adobe Illustrator.

Select the entire apple and press Ctrl + C to copy it.

Go back to the Photoshop document.

Press Ctrl + V and you will see a pop up that asks you to choose the type of paste. Choose “Pixels”.

Then select ((Polygonal Lasso Tool)) and trace the apple leave (as shown in the image below), right click the selection and choose ((Layer Via Cut)). You will cut, copy, and paste the selection into a new layer.

The apple and the leaf will be in separated layers.

Double click the apple layer to open ((Layer Styles)) and apply ((Stroke)). The colors you will use for this gradient: #B4B4B4 and #FFFFFF.

Accept the changes.

Move the leaf a few pixels upwards so that it’s not very close to the apple.

Double click the layer and apply ((Drop Shadow)).

Accept the changes.

Choose black as the foreground color.

Select the font Motter Tektura and write the Apple text with the values that appear below. If you don’t have the said font, download it by clicking this LINK.

Now press Ctrl + T to activate ((Free Transform)) and rotate the text until it looks like this.

Stand int he text layer and go to ((Layer))-((Layer Style))-((Blending Options)).

((Drop Shadow)).

((Stroke)).

Accept the changes.

Finally, you will have to fix the holes that appear in the letter “a”.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Select ((Polygonal Lasso Tool)) and create a selection as the one that appears below.

Choose white as the foreground color.

Now with ((Brush Tool)), 50px, and ((hardness)): 50%, paint the selection with white.

Deselect (Ctrl + D).

Done!

Open a new document, 310×120px, and white background.

Choose color #4d2607 as the foreground color.

Select the font Times New Roman, size 100px, and write “TEXTO”.

Now go to ((Layer))-((Layer Style))-((Blending Options)).

((Drop Shadow)).

((Bevel and Emboss)).

((Pattern Overlay)).

Accept the changes.

Then press Ctrl + Click the layer to activate the selection.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Fill it in with color #ECB200.

Stand in the layer you just filled in and select ((Erase Tool)), size 85px, with the values that appear in the following image (pointed with red arrows).

Double click the layer to apply ((Layer Styles)).

((Bevel and Emboss)).

((Pattern Overlay)). Select the ((Pattern)) you want. I recommend you not to use thin lines, nor objects with low-visibility.

Accept the changes. See how the Pattern is transparent.

Create a ((New Layer)) and place it below the text.

Fill it in with black.

Copy the last 2 ((Layer Styles)) you applied to this layer: ((Bevel and Emboss)) and ((Pattern Overlay)).

Create a ((New Layer)) and place it above the previous one.

Fill it in with color #ECB200.

Change the layer mode to ((Darken)).

Finally, reduce the ((Opacity)) to 70%.

This is the final result.

Before starting, I recommend you to download the following background since it has the particular transparency that DVD boxes have. Click HERE to download it.

Download the PSD of the box by clicking HERE.

Open the PSD of the box and drag the folder that has all the layers of the box towards the wooden background document.

If you downloaded this wooden background you will have to reduce the size of the box. Select the group where the DVD box is and, with ((Free Transform)) (Ctrl + T), reduce the size.

Let’s add the cover of the amazing movie “Scarface”.

Now I will press Ctrl + A to select the entire cover.

Then Ctrl + C to copy.

Now press Ctrl + V to paste the cover.

Place the Scarface cover between the background and the DVD box. Take a look ate the following image:

Choose black as the foreground color.

Select the font Garamond and enter the values that appear pointed in the image below. If you don’t have it, you can download it from HERE.

Go to ((Layer))-((Layer Style))-((Blending Options)).

((Inner Shadow)).

((Bevel and Emboss)).

((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #6fa3b6 and #ffffff.

Accept the changes.

Now select ((Pen Tool)) and draw the trace as shown below.

Press Ctrl + Enter to transform the trace into selection.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Fill in the selection with black.

Double click the layer to apply ((Layer Styles)).

((Inner Shadow)).

((Outer Glow)).

((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #f00000 and #950202.

Accept the changes and see the results.

In a ((New Layer)), draw a trace as the one that appears below and fill it in with black.

Right click the name of the layer you created the first shape in, and choose ((Copy Layer Styles)) from the drop down menu.

Now right click the name you draw the second shape in, and choose ((Past Layer Styles)).

Stand in the background layer.

With ((Gradient Tool)), ((Radial Gradient)), trace a gradient using a dark grey and a light one.

Create a ((New Layer)) and place it above the background layer.

Choose a dark grey as the foreground color.

Select ((Shape Tool)) and choose the shape that appears pointed in the following image.

Press and hold Alt + Shift to apply (proportionally) the shape into the document.

Now your logo will be ready.

Open a new document, 400×400px, and black background.

Press D to reset the colors to black and white.

Now go to ((Filter))-((Noise))-((Add Noise)).

Go to ((Filter))-((Sketch))-((Chrome)).

Write a text using the font Arial MT Black and white color.

Now go to ((Layer))-((Layer Styles))-((Stroke)).

Accept the changes.

Select all the layers and press Ctrl + E to unify them.

Go to ((Filter))-((Stylize))-((Extrude)).

After applying the values you will get this result.

Finally, press Ctrl + U to open ((Hue/Saturation)) and color the layer. Activate ((Colorize)) and enter the following values.

Final result.

Open the image of the curtain. You can download it by clicking HERE.

Now save the image as PSD (curtain.psd). I will then explain to you why.

For this tutorial I placed the Design Owners in a new layer, filled in with light grey, over the curtain.

Now go to ((Filter))-((Distort))-((Displace)).

Once you accept, a window asking you for the PSD file you previously saved will pop up.

You will have this result.

As you might notice, the effect in the image above doesn’t look real at all.

Change the layer style to ((Overlay)).

Very easy! You will also be able to apply this effect in home curtains and t-shirts.

Zoom in on the Snowboarder image.

Select ((Pen Tool)) and trace the snowboarder contour.
Press Ctrl + Enter to transform the trace into selection.

Now press Ctrl + C to copy.

Open a new document, 430×630px, and transparent background.
Press Ctrl + V to paste the snowboarder in this document.

As you will see, there still are rests of the snowboarder, so select ((Pen Tool)), trace the remaining contour and eliminate it.

Fill it in with black.

Now stand in the snowboarder layer and apply ((Filter))-((Artistic))-((Cutout)).

Press Ctrl + U to open the ((Hue/Saturation)) window. Activate Colorize and enter the following values.

Now Ctrl + U to open ((Levels)).

Ctrl + Click the snowboarder layer to activate the selection.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Go to menu ((Select))-((Modify))-((Expand)): (3px).

Fill in the selection with white.

Deselect (Ctrl + D).

Apply ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Gaussean Blur)).

Download this BRUSH with dirty textures and install it.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Choose color #0045ff as the foreground color.

Select one of the brushes and paint below the snowboarder.

Reduce the layer’s ((Opacity)) to 50%.

Download the font Tiza by clicking HERE and install it.

Using the same blue color, write the word “BIG”, size 140 px.

Press Ctrl + T to ((Free Transform)) and rotate the text 30º.

Complete the poster with different words.

You will also be able to duplicate 2 times the same word and play with the opacity, as seen on the word  “OWNERS”. Observe the following image, the values are the following: 100%, 40%, 10%.

This is the result Poster.

Open a new document, 800×600px, and black background.

Write “2009″ using the font Trebuchet MS Bold

You must not write the entire text in one layer; each number will be in a different layer and with a different color.

We will use 2 colors: light grey (#c9cbca) and white (#ffffff).

Then superpose the 4 numbers.

Reduce the layer’s ((opacity)) to 80%.

Stand in the “2″ and go to menu ((Layer))-((Layer Style))-((Gradient Overlay)). These will be the colors you will use: #5a7451 and #f2fdec

Accept the changes.

Now stand in the first “0″ and go to menu ((Layer))-((Layer Style))-((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #a78a78 and #fff9f6.

Stand in the other “0″ and apply ((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #7f4551 and #fcecec.

Then go to “9″ and apply ((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #464f8a and #ecf2ff.

After applying ((Gradient Overlay)) to each number, you will have this result.

Duplicate the four layers by selecting them all except for the background one, and drag them into the “Create a New Layer” button.

Eliminate the ((Layer Styles)) of the duplicated layers. Right click where it says Effects (underneath each layer) and choose ((Disable Layer Effects)).

Increase the ((opacity)) of the duplicated layers to 100%.

Now you must change the color to the numbers: “2″: #7dc75e – “0″: e99f0a – “0″: f82311 – “9″: 4766b9.

Arrange them like this:

Select all the duplicated layers and press Ctrl + E to unify them in a new layer.

Duplicate the unified layer (Ctrl + J) and merge it invisible.

Now go to ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Motion Blur)).

Reduce the ((Opacity)) to 60%.

Merge visible the duplicated layer and apply ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Motion Blur)).

To this layer, change the the style to ((Saturation)) and reduce the ((Opacity)) to 20%.

Select all the layers but the background one and duplicate them.

Press Ctrl + E to unify them in a new layer.

To the unified layer, apply ((Edit))-((Transform))-((Flip Vertical)) and arrange it like this.

Reduce the ((opacity)) to 50% and with ((Erase Tool)), erase the inferior area to create the reflection effect.

This is the final result. HAPPY 2009 everyone!

Open a new document, 600×300px, and black background.

To begin, go to ((Filter))-((Render))-((Lighting Effects)).

I enabled 2 links for you to download the “beer” font.

In this tutorial we will work with the font BrewMaster Modern.

Write the text with the values than appear below, it is very important that you use them since you will apply ((Layer Styles)).

Go to the text layer and go to menu ((Layer))-((Layer Styles))-((Blending Options)).

((Drop Shadow)).

((Outer Glow)).

((Inner Glow)). For the gradient use these colors: #ffffff, #f84141, #e10101, and #930000.

Accept the changes.

Finally, stand in the background layer and go to ((Filter))-((Texture))-((Texturizer)).

This will be the final result.

Open a new document, 600×630px, and black background.

With ((Pen Tool)), draw the 3 visible sides of the box, in 3 different layers. Once you have finished the trace, press Ctrl + Enter to activate the selection and fill it in with black.

With ((Move Tool)) unify the layers.

Download the texture clicking HERE.

Open the texture inside the document and, with ((Free Transform)), first, reduce the size of the texture; it’s too big (DO NOT press enter yet). The right click the mouse in ((Free Transform)) and choose ((Distort)). Now arrange the texture in perspective to the box.

Repeat the same steps in the other sides of the box (Scale, Distort).

After arranging the textures, select all the layers and press Ctrl + E to unify them. There will be only the box layer and the background one.

You will now add a background. You can download it clicking HERE.

Open the image and place it into the document.

The next step will be reducing the grass in front of the box.
Reduce the ((Opacity)) of the layer to 50%. Now select ((Pen Tool)) and draw some traces as the ones that appears below.

Increase the box layer’s ((opacity)) to 100%.

The next step is optional.

Write a text in the box. I used Arial Black.

Let’s apply ((Layer Styles)) to the text. Go to ((Layer))-((Layer Style))-((Blending Options)).

((Inner Shadow)).

((Inner Glow)).

((Bevel and Emboss)).

((Pattern Overlay)).

Accept the changes. This is my final result.

Let’s download the images, click HERE and then open it in Photoshop.

Create a ((New Layer)).

With ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)), trace a selection as the one you see below and fill it in with color #623812.

Duplicate the brown bar layer (Ctrl + J).

Double click the layer to apply ((Color Overlay)).

Accept the changes.

Duplicate the layer until you have 4 different bars of different colors.

Use these colors #005524, #750400, #ffbe02, #c0c5be.

Select all the bars and press Ctrl + E to unify them in an independent layer.

Now select ((Burn Tool)) with the values that you see in the image below to apply some shades to the center and sides of the bars.

Let’s write the text. As you will notice, I used DesignOwners’ capital letters. I used the font Anja Eliane accent. If you don’t have it, use another one. It must have thick contours, which is very important for the effect to be perfect.

Rasterize the text. ((Layer))-((Rasterize))-((Type)).

For the next step, download the following IMAGE.

Open the image in Photoshop and copy it in the document. Since it is very big, reduce it (Free Transform – Ctrl + T) to the font size. Ctrl + Click the text layer to activate the selection, then invert it. Go to ((Select))-((Inverse)). Check out:

Standing in the text layer, press delete¡.

Go to ((Image))-((Adjustments))-((Hue/Saturation)).

Select all the layers and press Ctrl + E to unify them in an independent layer.

Select ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)) and draw a selection in the lower part of the document.

Press Ctrl + J to duplicate the selection and place it in a new layer.

Place the selection over the text and the bars.

Change the layer style to ((Overlay)).

Select the 2 layers and press Ctrl + E to unify them.

Finally, with ((Burn Tool)), add some shades all around the document, as seen on the final result. Done! I hope you liked it!

Before getting started, open the image of a night club. You can download it from HERE.

Open the image in Photoshop.

Download one if these FONTS.

I choose the font Neon Lights and wrote the text in the club’s door.

Double click the layer to apply ((Layer Styles)).

((Drop Shadow)).

((Outer Glow)).

((Inner Glow)). For the gradient, use these colors: #fffddf, #fff000, #ff7200, and #ff3000.

((Bevel and Emboss)).

Accept the changes and see the neon lights.

You will also be able to apply the neon effect to graphics. In this case, I used the Design Owners pen.

Select ((Gradient Tool)) and trace a radial gradient from the center of the document, using the colors #5d2f0e and #180d07.

Write the text using the font Sniglet. If you don’t have it, download it from HERE.

((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #964a19 and #ff9821.

Write the text with the following characteristics.

Create a ((New Layer)) and place it underneath the text.

Press D and X to reset the colors to black and white.

Go to menu ((Filter))-((Render))-((Clouds)).

Press Ctrl + F to repeat the filter ((Clouds)).

In the same layer, apply ((Image))-((Adjustments))-((Levels)). Introcude the values that appear in the following image.

Deselect (Ctrl + D).

Double click the original text layer to apply ((Layer Styles)).

Accept the changes.

Then go to ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Gaussean Blur)).

Now press Ctrl + U to apply ((Hue/Saturation)). Activate Colorize and enter the following values.

Finally, go to the original text layer and double click it in order to open the ((Layer Styles)) and apply ((Gradient Overlay)). The colors you will use for this gradient will be : #025b50 and #84f1e4.

Accept the changes to get this final result.
