Website Header

Tutorial in Basics, Web

You will be able to design a professional website head. The only thing you have to do is to draw the buttons and the bar, applying some ((Layer Styles)) in order to create this great head.

Open a new document (1000×250px and black background).

((Create a new layer)).

With ((Rectangle Tool)), draw a white rectangle as the one that appears below.

Double click the layer to apply ((Blending Options)).

((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #191919, #545454, #545454.

((Stroke)).

The buttons will look like this.

Create a ((New Layer)).

With ((Rectangle Rounded Tool)), draw a button, which will be the one to be active. Fill it in with black.

Double click the layer to apply ((Blending Options)).

((Inner Shadow)).

((Gradient Overlay)). Use the following colors: #1eb400, #0cff00, #1eb400.

((Stroke)).

The active button will look like this.

Now create another ((New Layer)).

Change the layer style to ((Overlay)).

Ctrl + Click the button’s layer to activate the selection, then go to the new layer.

Select ((Brush Tool)), foreground color: white, brush size: 81px.

You will add extra brightness in the lower part of the active button. Take a look at the result in the following image.

Deselect (Ctrl + D).

With the font Arial and white color, write the active button’s text.

Standing in the text layer, go to ((Layer))-((Layer Style))-((Drop Shadow)).

The title of the button will look like this.

We will now create the remaining titles.

Write them using #acaaaa as the foreground color.

Go back to ((Layer))-((Layer Style))-((Drop Shadow)).

Create a ((New Layer)) and place it below the other ones, except the background one, of course.

Choose white as the foreground color.

Select ((Rounded Rectangle Tool)), ((Radius)): 10px, and draw a rectangle as the one that appears below.

Apply ((Gradient Overlay)). Double click the layer in order to do so.

The colors you will use in this gradient will be: #b1b1b1 and #ffffff.

Finally, add the name or logo of the website in the left side. Take a look at the final result. I hope you liked it.
