Userbars for Forums

Tutorial in Basics

With the following tutorial, you will learn how to create userbars for forums. Userbars are commonly used to promote or advertise websites as well as to show a particular interest in something.

In order to begin, create a new file with the dimensions 350 x 19 using a transparent background. Now select red as the primary color and white as the secondary. Select the ((gradient tool)) and draw one as shown below.

Open the other image that corresponds to the tutorial. At this point, you should have both files opened. Now you need to drag the “Super Campeones” image to the other file.

The image will have to be resized using the ((free transform)) tool or pressing Ctrl + T.

Create another file with the dimensions 6 x 6 in order to create the ((Pattern)) that you will use as background. Select the ((pen)) tool and black color (1px) and draw as shown below.

Now let’s save the ((Pattern))
((Edit)) > ((Define Pattern)) and assign a name to it.

Go back to the file where the “Super Campeones” image is and write the following text: “SUPERCAMPEONES” (Arial, Bold, Size: 5)

Right click the text layer and choose ((Blending Options)), then go to ((Stroke)) and enter the following values.

Create a ((new layer)) and arrange it in front of the others. In order to give the image a reflection effect, select the ((Eliptical Marquee tool)) and do a thin circle as seen on the image.

Fill it in with white color.

Now add a contour.
((Image)) > ((Adjustments)) > ((Blending Options)) and use the options that appear below.
Size: 1
Color: black

Now add a blurry effect to the white reflection.
((Filter)) > ((Blur)) > ((Gaussian Blur)) (2,6px)

Finally, go back to ((blending options)) and choose ((Pattern Overlay)).
Once you are there, select the ((Pattern)) you had created.

This is the result..
