This tutorial will show you how to create a great spiral explosion. Nowadays, it is very used in TV commercials, in the streets, in magazines, and more. Let’s go ahead and create it!
Open a new document, 640×480, and transparent background.
With ((Gradient tool)) create a linear gradient from top to bottom.
Now go to ((Filter))-((Distort))-((Wave)). The values you will use are in the following image.
Invert the image. ((Image))-((Adjustment))-((Invert)).
Then ((Filter))-((Distort))-((Polar Coordinates)). Select ((Polar To Rectangular)).
You just need to give life to the explosion. ((Image))-((Adjustment))-((Color Balance)). Apply the color you want.
