This is a tutorial to create letters that look like they were cut off from magazines. It is not necessary that you know it, but it can be useful anytime.
Open a new document (800×400px and white background).
First, select #cccccc as primary color.
Then write different letters with different sizes.
With ((Move Tool)), arrange the text layers in different positions. Take a look at the image below.
Create a ((New Layer)) and place it in the middle of the first text layer and the background.
Select ((Polygonal Lazo Tool)) and start tracing selections surrounding the letters as shown in the image below. Then fill them in with black.
Try different colors and fonts; you can even use a paper texture so that it looks more real.
