Stained Lines in Perspective

Tutorial in Basics, Drawing, Effects, Goodies, Web

This is an interesting effect with lines of different perspective, with all kind of dirty stains. This effect is ideal to use web templates and different kinds of design works.

Open a new document (500×500px and black background).

Create a ((New Layer)).

Select ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)), ((Fixed Size)): 20×220px. Click somewhere in the document and the values you indicated will automatically appear.

Choose #820c0c as the main color. Fill it in wil the said color.

Duplicate the layer (Ctrl + J).

With ((Move Tool)) active, move the duplicated bar 30px towards the right. In order to do so, press and hold Shift and presss the right arow 3 times. Every time yuou press the right arrow, the rectangle will move 10px towards the right.

Double click the duplicated layer to go to ((Layer Styles)) and edit ((Color Overlay)).

Accept the changes.

Repeat the last steps until you have 12 vertical bars.

The colors you will use for the next bars are the following:

#7f7c0b / #117c0a / #0b7f68 / #0c3086 / #3c0b80 / #6e0e79 / #820b45 / #969e0b / #47aca6 / #b69552.

Now select the 12 layers with the lines and press Ctrl + E to unify them.

With ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)), select almost half of the layers (observe the following image).

Once you draw the selection, go to ((Layer))-((New))-((Layer Via Cut)).

As you can see, the selecion was copied into a new layer.

Standing in the lines layer, go to menu ((Edit))-((Transform))-((Skew)), and move the sliders inwards as shown in the following image.

With ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)) copy (Ctrl + C) a part of the original lines and paste them (Ctrl + V) ina  nw layer. With ((Free Transform)) (Ctrl + T) reduce the size untiln you have the same width than the baclground lines. I recommend you use a high zoom in this step. Observe the following image.

Again, with ((Free Transform)) active, stretch the layer downwards.

Select all the line layers and press Ctrl + E to unify them in one layer.

Duplicate the unified layer (Ctrl + J) and change the blending mode to ((Color Dodge)).

Before going on, download these BRUSHES. They are dirty and stained textures.

Install the new Brush.

Choose black as the main color.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Select one of the brushes and paint the layer. If you see the brush is too soft, click one more time every time you apply the “paint”.

This is the final result.
