Electric Text
Tutorial in Basics, Effects, In Text
In this tutorial I will show you how to create an electric text using as the key effect the filter ((Wind)). You will also use ((Transform)), ((Hue/Saturation)), and ((Bevel and Emboss)).
Open a new document, 500×200px, and black background.
Write the text with white fill. For this tutorial, I used the font Serpentine-Bold. In case you don’t have it, I recommend you to use one with thick contours.
Rasterize the text. Go to ((Layer))-((Rasterize))-((Type)).
Duplicate the text layer (Ctrl + J).
Select the black background and the original text layer and press Ctrl + E to unify them in a new independent layer.
Now go to ((Image))-((Rotate Canvas))-((90º CW)).
Stand in the text layer with the unified background and apply ((Filter))-((Stylize))-((Wind)): Wind – From The Right.
Press Ctrl + F to repeat the filter.
Now apply ((Filter))-((Stylize))-((Wind)): Wind – From The Left.
Press Ctrl + F to repeat the filter.
Rotate the text and place it in its original position. ((Image))-((Rotate Canvas))-((90º CCW)).
Apply ((Filter))-((Stylize))-((Wind)). Wind – From The Left.
Then ((Filter))-((Stylize))-((Wind)). Wind – From The Right.
Let’s color the layer. Press Ctrl + U to open the ((Hue/Saturation)) window, activate Colorize and enter the following values:
Press Ctrl + Click the superior layer text to activate the selection.
Then go to ((Select))-((Modify))-((Contract)): 1px.
Create a ((New Layer)).
Fill it in with black.
Double click the layer to open the ((Layer Styles)) window and apply ((Bevel and Emboss)).
Accept the changes and…done!
