Drawing a Crystal Flower
Tutorial in Basics, Drawing, Web
In this tutorial we will create a simple crystal flower with a very nice result. We will use ((Pen Tool)) to draw it, ((Feather)) for the crystalline effect and ((Gradient Tool)) to color it.
Open a new document, 640×480px, and black background.
Select ((Pen Tool)) and trace the petal contour.
Press Ctrl + Enter to transform the trace into selection.
Create a ((New Layer)).
Fill it in with white.
With the selection active, go to ((Select))-((Modify))-((Feather)) : 10px.
Duplicate the flower layer (Ctrl + J) 4 more times and, with ((Free Transform)) (Ctrl + T), finish and locate the remaining petals.
Merge all the petals invisible except for one.
To merge a layer invisible you have to click the eye that appears to the layer side.
Duplicate (Ctrl +J) the layer you merged visible and apply ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Motion Blur)).
Repeat the previous step.
Select all the layers and press Ctrl + E to unify them in an independent layer.
Duplicate that layer (Ctrl + J) and apply ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Gaussean Blur)).
Select the 2 flowers layer and press Ctrl + E to unify them again.
Ctrl + Click the layer to activate the selection.
With the selection active, choose ((Gradient Tool)), and trace a linear gradient using the colors from the “Spectrum” (It comes with Photoshop)
Ready!
