Tutorial in Basics, Drawing, Web
Today I will show you how to create a silver medal. In order to do so, you will use ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), ((Shape Tool)) and some other filters, such as: ((Drop Shadow))-((Bevel and Emboss))-((Inner Glow))-((Gradient Overlay)), and ((Stroke)).
Open a new document (400×400px and white background).
Create a ((New Layer)).
Select ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)) and draw a circular selection as the one that appears below. Fill it in with color #d1d1d1.
Double click the layer to apply ((Layer Styles)).
((Drop Shadow)).
((Bevel and Emboss)).
Save the changes.
Create a ((New Layer)).
Select ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)) and draw a black circle, smaller than the other one, and place it where the following image shows.
Double click the layer to go to ((Layer Styles)).
((Inner Glow)).
((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #797979 and #ffffff.
((Stroke)).

In a ((New Layer)), create a black circle, even smaller than the other one, and place where the following image shows.
Double click the layer to go to ((Layer Styles)).
((Drop Shadow)).
((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #c6c6c6, #ffffff and #ffffff.
((Stroke)).
Save the changes.
Create a ((New Layer)).
In this layer, with ((Shape Tool)), select the rose that appears above the document in the options bar. Fill it in with #e3e3e3.
Double click the layer to apply ((Bevel and Emboss)):
Style: Pillow Emboss.
Technique: Smooth.
Depth: 100.
Direction: Up.
Size: 4.
Soften: 0.
Angle: 90º.
Altitude: 30º.
Done, save the changes.
With Ctrl + J, duplicate the layer and with ((Free Transform)) (Ctrl + T), rotate the flower until you complete the whole medal contour. Take a look at the following image.
In case you want to add a detail in the center of the medal, draw it in a new layer an apply the same ((Bevel and Emboss)) values that you entered to the flower.
Now we are done, this is the result.
