Creating RSS Starry Icon

This is another of the many RSS icons you will find in our website. This one I offer you today, has a starry design and shades. We will use a ((Brush)) that you will then download in order to create the star and ((Gradient Tool)) to create the reflection and shadows. Also, you will use the well known ((Layer Styles)): ((Inner Glow)), ((Outer Glow)), ((Gradient Overlay)).

Open a new document 128×128px, and white background.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Choose black as the foreground color.

With ((Rounded Rectangle Tool)), 10px, draw a black rectangle.

Double click the black rectangle layer in order to apply ((Layer Styles)).

((Outer Glow)).

((Inner Glow)).

((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors #9e0a0a and #000000.

((Stroke)).

Accept the changes and you will see this result.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Verify black is the foreground color.

Download the ray brush by clicking HERE.

Once installed, paint the ((New Layer)) with the new brush.

Change the layer style to ((Soft Light)) and reduce the ((Opacity)) to 30%.

In a ((New Layer)), draw an RSS logo.

Double click the logo layer to apply ((Layer Styles)).

((Inner Glow)).

((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #7f7f7f, #e7e7e7, and #7f7f7f.

Accept the changes.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Then, select ((Gradient Tool)), ((Linear Gradient)), and choose a black-transparent-black gradient.

Ctrl + Click the icon’s contour layer to activate the selection.

In the ((New Layer)), apply the gradient from top to bottom.

Ctrl + Click the icon’s contour layer to activate the selection.

Now select ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), ((Intersect With Selection)), and trace the circle standing in the superior left top side of the icon in order to get something like this.

Create a ((New Layer)) and apply a linear gradient from white to transparent. Take a look at the final result.
