Creating Header for a Video Games Site

You will create a simple and yet attractive for a video games website. You just need to download 3 images, apply ((Layer Styles)), ((Gradient Tool)), and a special font.

Open a new document, 900×140px, and transparent background.

Select ((Gradient Tool)), ((Linear Gradient)) and trace a gradient from top to bottom, and these colors: #476ba7 and #263d65.

Download the 3 images:

Mario2

To begin, copy and paste the Pacman image in the left side of the document.

Select ((Erase Tool)), size 200-230px, and ((Hardness)): 0%, to erase the right side edeges in the Pacman image.

Then change the layer mode to ((Soft Light)).

Reduce the ((Opacity)) to 55%.

Now place the Mario JPG image in the center of the header.

As you can see, the image size is quite big, so reduce it with ((Free Transform)) (Ctrl + T).

Select ((Erase Tool)) with the same values, and erase all the left and right sides of the image.

Change the layer style to ((Soft Light)).

Reduce ((Opacity)) to 20%.

Now paste the Mario PNG image in the right side of the header.

Erase the borders of this image as well and reduce the ((opacity)) to 50%.

Now write the text. First, download the font ARCADE.
Write the text using the size 60px.

In the text layer, go to ((Layer))-((Layer Style))-((Blending Options)).

((Drop Shadow)).

((Gradient Overlay)).

Done! You can add more details such as buttons or a slogan underneath the title.
