Creating Circular RSS Icon

Are you having a hard time finding an RSS icon for your website? Tired of seeing the same over and over again? This time, I will show you how to create your own RSS using some tools and some ((Layer Styles)).

Open a new document (512×515px and white background).

Create a ((New Layer)).

With ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), draw a circle like the one thata ppears below.

Reduce the ((Fill)) to 0%.

Double click the layer to apply ((Layer Styles)).

((Gradient Overlay)).

Accept the changes.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Draw a circle like the one you see below and fill it in with #f36523.

Double click the layer to apply ((Layer Styles)).

((Inner Shadow)).

((Stroke)).

Accept the changes and see the results.

Create another ((New Layer)).

With ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), draw another circle, smaller than the other one, and fill it in with grey. Take a look at the image below.

Double click the layer so that you apply ((Layer Styles)).

((Gradient Overlay)). For this gradient, use: #f36523 and #fed482.

You will have this result.

Rasterize the layer, completely. Right click the layer and choose ((Covert To Smart Objects)). Right click again and choose ((Rasterize Layer)).

Now select ((Erase Tool)) with the values that appear below in the options bar and erase the contours of the circle /especially in the lower part). Take a look at the results in the following image.

Create a ((New Layer)).

With ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), draw an oval like the one that appears below and fill it in with grey.

Reduce the ((Fill)) to 0%.

Double click the layer to apply ((Layer Styles)).

((Inner Glow)).

Acept the changes.

Ctrl + Click the first circle layer to activate the selection.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Then go to ((Select))-((Modify))-((Contract)). (7px).

Place the new selection to the right and fill it in with color #F36523.

With the selection active, choose ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), ((Subtract from selection)). Observe in the following image how the selection is reduced.

Change the layer style to ((Overlay)) and reduce the ((Opacity)) to 60%.

With ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)) and ((Pen Tool)), draw the RSS logo. Fill it in with color #fedb8a.

Double click the RSS logo layer to apply ((Gradient Overlay)).

Use the colors #fedb8a and #fee9ba.

This is the final result.
