Creating Abstract Spiral

Tutorial in Basics, Effects, Goodies

I will now show you one of the many tutorials with abstract effects that I showed you. In this chance, you will create an abstract spiral with Photoshop filters.

Open a new document (600×400px and black background).

Now apply ((Filter))-((Render))-((Lens Flare)). Place the light in the left bottom side of the document.

Apply the same filter again but, this time, place the lights in the right top side of the file.

Now ((Filter))-((Distort))-((Twirl)). (Angle: 316º).

Duplicate the layer (Ctrl + J) and rotate it 90º. ((Edit))-((Transform))-((90º CW)).

Change the layer style to ((Screen)).

Now select ((Brush Tool)), with a bigger size than 120px and ((Hardness)), 0%. Erase the hard borders in the layer so that it looks like this.

Press Ctrl + E to unify the layers.

Now you have only one layer. Duplicate it (Ctrl + J) and change the layer mode to ((Overlay)).

Unify the layers again (Ctrl + E) and duplicate it (Ctrl + J) again as well.

Then go to ((Filter))-((Distort))-((Glass)).

Once you have applied this filter, change the layer style to ((Overlay)).

Do you like the result?
