Tutorial in Basics, Effects, Goodies

This is an impressing tutorial which will show you how to create texture that actually looks like real grass. We will use some filters, such as ((Noise)), ((Clouds)), ((Gaussean Blur)), ((Spatter)), ((Wind)); and adjustments like ((Hue/Saturation)).

Open a new document (600×600px and transparent background).

Press D to reset the color palette to black and white.

Then go to ((Filter))-((Render))-((Clouds)).

Now apply ((Filter))-((Noise))-((Add Noise)).

Then ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Gaussean Blur)).

((Filter))-((Brush Strokes))-((Spatter)).

Press Ctrl + U to open the ((Hue/Saturation)) window (select “colorize”).

Create a ((New Layer)) and fill it in with #51841b.

Then apply ((Filter))-((Noise))-((Add Noise)).

Now ((Filter))-((Blur))-((Gaussean Blur)).

Now go to ((Filter))-((Stylize))-((Wind)). Choose the options “Stagger” and “From the left”.

Rotate the image 90º. Go to ((Image))-((Rotate Canvas))-((90º CCW)) and apply the filter ((Wind)) again but, this time, towards the right.

Rotate the layer back to its original position. ((Image))-((Rotate Canvas))-((90º CW)).

You can leave it like it is, or you can make it more real. Press Ctrl + U to go back to ((Blending Options)) (select “Colorize”).

This is the final result.
