Creating a Nuclear Atom Effect
Tutorial in Basics, Drawing, Effects, Goodies, Web
In this tutorial we will create, with ((Shape Tool)), and nuclear atom. It comes with Photoshop, but we will apply a great effect using ((Layer Styles)), such as: ((Drop Shadow)), ((Outer Glow)), and ((Inner Glow)) and we will create a background with ((Gradient Tool)) so that the atom illuminates the background.
Open a new document, 800×600px, and black background.
Create a ((New Layer)).
Choose white as the foreground color.
Now select ((Shape Tool)) and select (from the options bar, above the document) the atom. Here’s how you have to draw it:
Double click the atom layer to apply ((Layer Styles)).
((Drop Shadow)).
((Outer Glow)).
((Inner Glow)). I used the colors: #fffddf, #fff000, #ff7200, and #ff3000.
Accept the changes.
Select ((Gradient Tool)), ((Linear Gradient)), with colors #c27302 and #000000. Go to the center of the atom to trace the gradient.
This must be the final result.
