Creating a Metallic War ID
These kinds of labels or IDs are commonly used in war to identify dead or hurt people.
Open a new document (500×300px and white background).
Create a new layer.
Select ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)) and draw a selection as the one that appears below. Fill it in with color #c4c4c4.
Then, with ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)) draw a selection in the middle of the circle. Press ((delete)).
Duplicate the layer and go to ((Image))-((Rotate Canvas))-((Flip Canvas Horizontal)).
Place them as shown in the following image.
Create a ((new layer)) and make a rectangular selection in order to unite the half-circles you just created. Fill in the rectangle with #c4c4c4.
Select all the layers (except for the one with the white background) and press Ctrl + E to unify the label in one layer.
Press Ctrl + Clic to activate the selection of the label.
Create another ((new layer)).
Choose the following colors: #313131 y #515150. With ((Gradient Tool)) trace a linear gradient from top to bottom.
Go to ((Select))-((Modify))-((Contract)) (5px).
Create another layer.
Trace the same gradient, but this time do it from bottom to top.
Contract the selction 5px more.
Create another layer again.
Select #c1c0c0 y #515150. Using the said colors, trace another linear gradient from bottom to top.
Contract the selection 5px more.
Create a ((new layer)) and apply another gradient, from top to bottom.
Select all the layers except for the back one and press Ctrl + E so that they are unified.
Then press Ctrl + T ((Free Transform)) and rotate the layer 25º.
Let’s create a hole, where the label chain goes through.
In another ((new layer)), with ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), drae a small circle and fill it in with white, as you see in the image below.
Double click the layer to go to ((Blending Options)).
((Drop Shadow)).
((Inner Shadow)).
This is how the hole should look like.
You just need to enter the name of the soldier.
