Creating a Graphic

Tutorial in Basics, Designing, Drawing

Let’s create a graphic with cylinders. We will use a simple technique that will make our job easier. Want a clue? With just pressing a key several times, you will get the result.

Open a new document (640×480px and transparent background).

With ((Gradient Tool)), fill in the background with a gradient from grey to white.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Select ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), create an oval, and fill it in with black, as shown in the following image.

Double-click the oval layer to edit it with the ((Blending Options)).

((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #033b6b y #297dd3.

It will look like this.

Here comes the trick. Press and hold Alt and, at the same time, press the down arrow several times. The layers will be duplicated and you will get something like the following image.

Now select the first layer you had created, and place it over the others. In that layer, change the angle and add a color to the gradient. Check out the image below.

Select all the layers except for the one in the background (in case we want to create another cylinder, with a different color). Press Ctrl + E to unify them.

It will look like this.

In the image below you will see I added two more cylinders and I drew a graphic with values.
