Creating 3D Abstract Models

Tutorial in Basics, Designing, Drawing, Effects, Goodies

Let’s try to create 3D abstract models using pixels from other images.

Open the image of a skyscraper. You can download it clicking here.

Now select ((Single Row Marquee Tool)) and click the part of the image that occupies most part of the document. Checkout the following image for more details.

Press Ctrl + C to ((copy)) this selection.

Then create a new document (900×900px and black background).

Press Ctrl + V to paste the pixels.

Rotate the pixels 90º. Press Ctrl + T and then ((Edit))-((Transform))-((Rotate 90º CW)).

Do not press Enter yet. With ((Free Transform)) still active, right click the pixels and select ((Scale)). Stretch the pixels as shown in the following image.

Press Enter.

Duplicate the layer (Ctrl + J) and then, with ((Free Transform)), select ((Scale)) in order to stretch the pixels towards the para right. Take a look at the following image.

Do not press Enter yet.

With ((Free Transform)) still active, right click and select ((Perspective)). Move the lower slider as I did in the following image.

Ctrl + Click to activate the pixels layer.

Now with ((Brush Tool)), ((Hardness)): 0%, and size 172px, apply a soft shade.

Do the same in the other layer.

This was my result, I hope you liked it.
