Colorful Header for a Design Studio
This is an excellent header for the website of a design studio. If you are planning on founding your own company or you are bored of your old header, I recommend you to read this tutorial. The said header is composed of a wide range of colors and high quality buttons.
Open a new document (100×280px).
First, draw the buttons bar:
Choose #5b5b5b as the foreground color.
Create a ((New Layer)).
Select ((Rectangle Tool)) and draw the buttons in the lower part of the document.
Double click the layer to apply ((Blending Options)).
((Color Overlay)).
((Gradient Overlay)). Use the following colors: #1e2e37 / #12191f.
Create a ((New Layer)).
With ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)), make a selection that occupies the entire white parte and fill it in with white. Take a look at the following image.
Double click the layer to apply ((Gradient Overlay)). I used the following colors: #771387 / #ae1e1e / #ce6363.
Before going on, download this BRUSH.
Now create a ((New Layer)).
Select ((Brush Tool)), install the brush you just download.
Ctrl + Click the layer to activate the selection.
With ((Brush Tool)), and the line brush you just installed selected, apply the styles over the colored area.
Apply this ((Gradient Overlay)). I used the following colors: #f4b6cf and #f2e8f1.
The final result is the following.
With the font Arial, write the page’s title.
Standing in the text layer, go to ((Layer))-((Layer Style))-((Gradient Overlay)). For the gradient, use these colors: #d5d4d4 and #ffffff.
Accept the changes.
Below the title, I wrote the site’s theme: “Photoshop Tutorials”. I used color #efefef.
Let’s create the active button.
Create a ((New Layer)).
Select ((Rounded Rectangle Tool)), radius: 35px and a size similar to the one you see below.
Double click the layer to apply ((Layer))-((Layer Style))-((Blending Options)).
((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #ae1e1e and #ee2c2c.
((Stroke)).
Accept the changes.
With the font Myriad Pro, color #d4e9ff, write the title of the button.
Duplicate the layer (Ctrl + J) and place it below the original one.
Right click the duplicated layer, choose ((Convert To Smart Object)). Right click again, choose ((Rasterize Layer)).
Create a ((New Layer Mask)) in this layer.
Press D and then X to reset the colors to black and white.
Ctrl + Click the layer to activate the selection, then stand in the Layer mask and apply a linear gradient so that you make it look like a reflection of the original button. Take a look at the following image.
Now let’s create the buttons.
In a ((New Layer)), draw the same button.
Double click the layer to apply ((Blending Options)).
((Gradient Overlay)). For the gradient, use these colors #ffffff and #ffd4d4.
((Stroke)).
Write the title of the button with the same font of the active button, but with black as the foreground color.
Duplicate the layer 2 more times (Ctrl + J), and simply change the buttons’ names.
If you followed the steps correctly, you should have this wonderful header.
