Adding Fireworks to a City
Tutorial in Basics, Effects, Goodies, In Photos
In this Photoshop tutorial you will learn how to add fire works to a photograph. What you need, in order to create this effect, is the image of a city at night, of course, and the image of some fireworks. You can find both of them at www.everystockphoto.com
First, open the image of the city.
Then open the one with the fireworks.
Press Ctrl + A in order to select the whole image and Ctrl + C to copy it.
Go back to the city image and go to ((Edit))-((Paste)).
Adjust the image to a realistic size and believable using ((Free Transform)) (Ctrl + T).
Change the layer with the fireworks’ blending mode to ((Screen)).
You will see in the image below that the fireworks were adjusted to the sky but there’s one problem: they are in front of the buildings. In order to fix this issue, create a ((mask)) by clicking ((Add Mask)) (it’s pointed by the red arrow in the image below).
Choose black as front color and, with ((Pen Tool)) (Hardness: 20%), standing in the mask, erase the fireworks that are in front of the buildings. If you take a look at the image below, the ((mask)) has some black spots. Those are the areas I erased.
Done! Our city with fireworks is ready.
