Modern Web Search Bar

I will now show you how to create a modern web search bar with a drop-down menu. Remember this is just an initial design, you will be able to modify it according to what you believe appropriate.

Open a new document (450×200px and transparent background).

Fill it in with color #1b2831.

Choose white as the main color from the color palette.

Select ((Rounded Rectangle Tool)), radius: 8px, and trace the bar as shown in the image below.

((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #dadada and #ffffff.

It will look like this.

Ctrl + Click the layer to activate the selection.

Select ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)), ((Subtract From Selection)), and leave the selection as seen below.

Create a ((New Layer))

Fill it in with black.

Now apply ((Blending Options)).

((Drop Shadow)).

((Gradient Overlay)). Use the following colors: #e75b1e and #f4864e.

After saving the changes, it will look like this.

Select ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)), ((Subtract From Selection)), and leave the selection as shown below.

Create a ((New Layer))

Fill in this new selection with white.

Double click the layer and apply the following  ((Blending Options)).

((Drop Shadow)).

((Gradient Overlay)).

It will look like this.

In another ((New Layer)), with ((Rectangular Marquee Tool)), ((Subtract From Selection)), repeat the previous procedures. This time, add a reflection in the bar; you will see it in the following image. Fill it in with white and reduce the opacity to 30%.

Create a ((New Layer)).

Then select (Line Tool), 1px, and draw the two separator lines that appear below.

With ((Polygonal Lazo Tool)), draw an arrow and fill it in with white. Take a look at the following image.

Select the font Helvetica and write the titles to the buttons.

Finally, add a small search icon, which you can download at www.deviantart.com.
