Creating Metallic Button
This is a fantastic metallic button which you will be able to use as a web source. We will use a wide variety of ((Layer Styles)): ((Inner Shadow)), ((Inner Glow)), ((Gradient Overlay)), ((Stroke)), ((Outer Glow)) and, ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)) to create the shapes and traces.
Open a new document, 450×450px, and white background.
Create a ((New Layer)).
Select ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), pressing and holding Alt + Shift, and draw a selection as shown in the following image.
Double click the layer to open the ((Layer Styles)) window.
((Inner Shadow)).
((Inner Glow)).
((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #000000, #88a4bd and #ffffff.
((Stroke)). Colors: #bcd5ee and #35424d.
Accept the changes and see the results.
Create a ((New Layer)).
Select ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)) to trace a circular selection,a s shown in the following image.
Fill it in with black.
Double click the layer to open the ((Layer Styles)) and apply ((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #000000, #000000, #ffffff, #5298d8 and #000000.
Accept the changes.
Now rasterize the 2 circles. Right click the name of the layer with the first circle and choose ((Convert To Smart Object)) from the drop down list. Right click and select ((Rasterize Layer)).
Repeat the second step.
Press and hold Alt and click in the middle of both layers. The said zone is pointed with a red arrow.
Create a ((New Layer)).
With ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)), draw a circular selection as the one that appears below.
Fill it in with white.
Double click the layer to open ((Layer Styles)) and apply ((Gradient Overlay)).
Accept and see the results.
Create a ((New Layer)).
Draw an oval selection in the top side of the button.
Fill it in with white.
Create another ((New Layer)).
Select ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)) and draw the following selection in the center of the button.
Fill it in with #212530.
Double click the layer to open ((Layer Styles)).
((Outer Glow)).
((Inner Glow)).
((Stroke)).
Accept the changes.
Create a ((New Layer)).
Select ((Elliptical Marquee Tool)) and draw another selection in the middle of the document.
Fill it in with white.
Double click the layer to go to ((Layer Styles)).
((Inner Glow)).
((Gradient Overlay)). Use these colors: #babcbd and #ffffff.
((Stroke)).
Accept the changes.
Write a text in the button.
Stand in the text layer and go to ((Layer))-((Layer Style))-((Inner Shadow)).
Accept the changes to get this wonderful button.
